Caledonia State Park
Recreational enthusiasts in the Keystone State have plenty of options for fun, while traveling along U.S. Route 30 in south-central Pennsylvania. Spend the day exploring the 1,125-acre Caledonia State Park, located east of Fayetteville on South Mountain.
This beautiful park was established on the site of a charcoal iron works company from 1837. Visitors to the park can still see the original furnace stack, millrace, blacksmith shop, and charcoal hearths. Lace up your hiking shoes for the 10 miles of hiking trails, or bring your clubs for the park's 18-hole, par 68 golf course – one of the oldest in the region.
Drop a fishing line in the Rocky Mountain Creek, to try your best at catching brown trout, brook trout and rainbow trout. Take a break to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch at one of the many of picnic spots.
