University Park Airport
The Happy Valley area of central Pennsylvania, south of the Pennsylvania Wilds, is not only home to Pennsylvania State University, but also a fine airport. The University Park Airport was established in the 1950s, on land that was leased from the university, north of State College.
In 1972, Penn State took over the management of the airport and its property. Throughout the years, the airport expanded with a terminal building, a general aviation hangar and renovations to the runway.
The fixed based operator located at the airport provides charter services, flight instruction, hangar rental space, a pilot's lounge, conference rooms, catering, aircraft maintenance, aircraft fuel and pilot supplies. Three commercial airlines provide commercial flights to Detroit, Wasshington-Dulles, and Philadelphia.
